The Tiger in the Smoke

The Tiger in the Smoke is Margery Allingham's fourteenth book in her Detective Albert Campion series. In it, Campion is hired to investigate the apparent sighting of a man who had been presumed to be killed in battle during WWII. The mystery itself is totally implausible, but the book has some fine character studies set against the atmospheric backdrop of London's pea soup fog.
