Death by Water

In Death by Water, an aging novelist (Kogito “Kogii” Choko, an alter-ego for Oe himself) returns to his hometown to investigate the secrets behind his father’s drowning. Despite some beautiful moments and grand themes, the slow pace of the novel makes for an unengaging reading experience.
