The Pequod Review:

John P. Marquand (1893-1960) took more pride in his literary novels, but his best books were a series of six spy novels featuring the Japanese secret agent Mr. Moto. (Later in life Marquand would say, “Mr. Moto was my literary disgrace. I wrote about him to get shoes for the baby. I can’t say why people still remember him.”) In Your Turn, Mr. Moto, the agent recruits a discontented former American military pilot to assist with a Japanese espionage mission.
