The Pequod Review:

Kenneth Clark’s thesis in What is a Masterpiece? is that some works of art are objectively better than others, and that there is such a thing as a masterpiece. I intuitively agree with him, however his book struggles to articulate a replicable definition or criteria for a masterpiece, and winds up being rather unpersuasive.
