The Pequod Review:
The British spy writer Lionel Davidson (1922-2009) branched out into children’s fiction with this very good story about a secret civilization (Egon) that exists in a cave under the Cornwall cliffs. Davidson brings more complexity and intelligence to the premise than you might expect, as Egon has surreal physical laws and all human visitors have their memories erased before they return to normal life. Highly recommended for younger readers.
