The Pequod Review:
The Twenty-Year Death is a collection of three full-length books, written in the style of (respectively) Georges Simenon, Raymond Chandler and Jim Thompson. My expectations were low but somehow Ariel Winter manages to not just capture the style of each writer but produce very good and well-plotted books. The Simenon book is the strongest of the three, followed by the Thompson book. Hard Case Crime has emerged as a publisher of real authority for noir fiction.
