The Pequod Review:
Travels is a hit-and-miss collection of travel stories and other personal memories from the novelist Michael Crichton. Over thirty essays, Crichton explores his early experiences in med school as well as his trips to various international spots (Bonaire, Bangkok, Shangri-La, Jamaica, New Guinea, etc). One of the best chapters describes Crichton's experiences directing Sean Connery in The Great Train Robbery: "He’s one of the most remarkable people I have ever met, lighthearted and serious at the same moment... Sean seems to live in a kind of present moment, responding to events with an unaffected immediacy that disregards the past and future."
