Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

The Pequod Review:
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy features one of John le Carre’s most intricate plots, as the intelligence officer George Smiley is tasked by MI6 with finding a mole inside the organization. Le Carre structures the book ingeniously, revealing bits and pieces of information, promising leads and dead ends, intermingled with Smiley’s own faded memories — all of which are assembled largely in a hotel room by Smiley himself. And the book is underrated as a spy thriller, as Smiley undertakes a number of counterespionage actions to retrieve top secret files and pursue leads. The realism and intense character studies make this one of le Carre's best novels.
