A Tale of Two Cities

More plot-driven than Charles Dickens's earlier serials, A Tale of Two Cities has an over-the-top theatricality that makes it better suited to a staged performance than a novel. But its plot is a good one, a work of historical fiction set in pre-revolution Paris with dark themes of resurrection and human destiny.
