A Small Town in Germany

Set in post-World War II Bonn, A Small Town in Germany traces the disappearance of a low-level British embassy secretary along with several secret files, and the subsequent investigation by a Foreign Office cleanup man. While the story features no George Smiley or even the British intelligence service, the two characters are revealed in classic le Carre fashion to be flawed and complicated individuals, with more in common than originally believed.
