A Short History of Nearly Everything

A Short History of Nearly Everything is an extremely well-written and engaging general science book covering a wide range of subjects, including geology, physics, astronomy and evolution. Bill Bryson's prose is just a delight to read — witty but yet highly informative — and he knows how to occasionally go deep in order to illustrate a broader trend or principle. Bryson's book is also a good entry point to the work of other scientists in the field, including Richard Feynman, Stephen Jay Gould, Brian Greene, Alfred Russell Wallace, and Alexander von Humboldt. Highly recommended, especially for younger readers who haven't yet discovered a love for the natural sciences.
