Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson

The Pequod Review:
Camille Paglia’s posturing as a transgressive and contrarian critic (while actually holding somewhat conventional opinions) gets tiresome after awhile, but in Sexual Personae she covers a lot of ground and occasionally has very intelligent observations on classic works of literature or art. Her discussions of Henry James and Edgar Allen Poe are especially strong. Recommended.
