The Pequod Review:

Cynthia Ozick's The Puttermesser Papers is a collection of five previously-published short stories recounting the adventures of the extraordinary Ruth Puttermesser — an attorney (“her heart beat for law, even for tax law”), polymath, lover, mother, New York City mayor, golem-creator, and, in a surreal turn, murder victim. Ozick’s writing is witty and whimsical, full of dry humor, and is never less than a delight to read.
