The Power of Persuasion: How We're Bought and Sold

The Pequod Review:
Robert Levine did real work for The Power of Persuasion, taking a number of actual sales jobs and doing first-hand interviews with car salesmen, marketing directors, and various other salespeople. As a result, his book is deeper and more specific than most others in the genre. I also liked this line: "It's the people we're unprepared for who present the greatest threat. The fast-talking salesman puts us on alert. But the nice guys, the friendly thieves who sell beneath the threshold of our awareness, put us at their mercy."
