Nightmare at 20,000 Feet: Horror Stories
Rating
The Pequod Review:
Nightmare at 20,000 Feet collects twenty of Richard Matheson’s early short stories, most of them previously published in magazines like Weird Tales, Fantasy & Science Fiction, and Playboy. The title story would become the basis for one of the most famous Twilight Zone episodes of all time, but the collection has several other standouts too, including “Dress of White Silk,” “The Distributor,” “Duel,” and “Prey.” The stories are more disturbing than scary, and not all of Matheson’s best work has been included here, but this is a solid collection for fans of intelligent SF/horror fiction.
