The Pequod Review:

Kit Mackintosh's Neon Screams goes deep into some of the most experimental genres of modern (i.e., 2020s) music, including mumble rap, Brooklyn drill, UK drill, trap dancehall and Afrobeats. His writing is frantic and full of unnecessary attitude, but the book highlights a number of pioneering (and mostly unknown) musicians. It all adds up to a powerful argument that innovation in music isn't over — you just aren't hearing about it.
