Josephine Tey (1896-1952) was an underrated mid-century crime novelist whose books had uncommonly well-developed characters and more depth than most of her mystery peers. Miss Pym Disposes, her fifth novel, is the story of a retired teacher and pop psychology author who investigates a murder at a girls’ college, to surprising and tragic results.
