The Pequod Review:

Robert Crais is to my mind one of the more underrated modern crime writers. He lacks the popularity of Lee Child or Michael Connelly, but his books have tight plots and interesting characters that make them far superior to most others in the genre. L.A. Requiem is one of his best books, and involves Detective Elvis Cole’s search for the missing daughter of a wealthy businessman. The book features a larger role from Cole’s complicated partner (Joe Pike), and it has other strong secondary characters too. Highly recommended for fans of Ross Macdonald’s Los Angeles noirs, and intelligent crime fiction more generally.
