Killer's Wedge

Published in 1959, Killer's Wedge is the eighth book in Ed McBain's 87th Precinct series. This time Detective Steve Carella faces off with a revengeful woman (Virginia Dodge) who threatens to blow up the precinct. Dodge is a poorly developed character, and her actions are not always plausible, but the closed room setting allows McBain to explore the personalities of Carella and his colleagues as they seek to defuse a hostage crisis.
