The Pequod Review:

Rick Moody's The Ice Storm takes place over the course of a single night in 1973, as a dangerous winter storm bears down on two upper-middle-class Connecticut suburban families. The tragic events of the evening lay bare the emotional detachment, dishonesty, and moral alienation of both the parents and the children. And while Moody’s prose is cold and detached, he gets so many of the details right — from the distrustful political environment of the early 1970s, to the day-to-day experiences of sexual affairs and alcohol abuse.
