The Pequod Review:

A Handful of Summers is one of the better pre-Open Era tennis memoirs. Written by Gordon Forbes, a moderately successful South African player, the book is full of great stories from the casual, carefree era of the 1950s and 1960s — a period without personal trainers or coaches or nutritionists, and with a lot of alcohol and insouciance.
