The Pequod Review:

The Green Ripper, the nineteenth book in John D. MacDonald's Travis McGee series, finds McGee at his most chauvinistic. Nonetheless, the plot is one of MacDonald’s most gripping, involving a cultish terrorist organization whose activities impact McGee personally. (The book has the distinction of being the first and last winner of the National Book Award for Mystery, a one-year award only given in 1980.)
