The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby remains an enjoyable read and the first chapter has some especially beautiful lines. But the overall book is somewhat plot-heavy, and too many of the characters are poorly developed and even a bit cliched. The book's mixed reviews at the time of its original publication are actually rather persuasive.
