Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: The Illuminating Diary of a Professional Lady

The Pequod Review:
Anita Loos's Gentleman Prefer Blondes traces the adventures of a young American blonde (Lorelei Lee) as she travels the world in search of men who can provide her expensive jewelry, lavish vacations and other material gifts. The book has a droll sense of humor — and some sharp perceptions of male-female relationships — however Lorelai is not really a very interesting character (an entire section of her diary titled "London Is Really Nothing" and her dismissal of the "Eyeful Tower" reveal the extent of her limited appreciation of the world).
