Game Change: The Life and Death of Steve Montador, and the Future of Hockey

Steve Montador was a former NHL player and when he died in 2015 (at the age of 35), his brain was found to have CTE as a result of hockey-related concussions. With Game Change, Ken Dryden uses Montador's case study as the starting point for a broader analysis into the role of violence in hockey and the nature of head injuries more generally. As usual, he brings his wise and clear-headed perspective to the subject. Somewhat tangentially, the book also includes a very insightful review of the NHL's success under Commissioner Gary Bettman’s leadership from the mid-1990s to today.
