The Pequod Review:

In The Galton Case, Lew Archer is hired by a wealthy older woman to find her son, who disappeared twenty years earlier. It is expected to be a futile case (and therefore an easy fee) but Archer’s investigation uncovers a deep history of family trauma. The novel features some of Macdonald’s best and most complicated characters, and the result is one of his strongest books.
