The Pequod Review:
The Firm is John Grisham's breakthrough novel, the story of a Harvard Law grad (Mitch McDeere) who takes a job at a small Memphis law firm. Following a handful of suspicious deaths, McDeere learns that the firm has links to organized crime — and that he is in a lot more trouble than he realizes. This is one of Grisham's best and most intricate narratives, and features all of his favorite plot elements: a good guy hero, vaguely nefarious bad guys, and a Southern upper-middle-class setting.
