Falling Off The Map: Some Lonely Places of the World

I have enjoyed many of Pico Iyer’s writings (including his various literary essays and especially his introduction to the NYRB Classics reissue of Soseki’s The Gate) but this collection of travel essays is a bit too broad and unfocused, and only intermittently interesting.
