Everyman

“Old age isn’t a battle; old age is a massacre.” Everyman is a short novella with a promising construct, as it begins with the funeral of the protagonist and moves backward to fill in details of his life. But Philip Roth's ordinary everyman is ultimately too dull and uninteresting.
