In The Daughter of Time, a laid up Inspector Alan Grant investigates the 15th century crimes of King Richard III from his hospital bed – and, implausibly, succeeds. I think the members of the Mystery Writers of America who voted it the fourth best mystery of all time relied too much on the blurbs of Anthony Boucher and Winston Churchill rather than their own judgments.
