The Pequod Review:
Dark Sacred Night brings together two of Michael Connelly's previous protagonists — the longtime LAPD veteran Harry Bosch and the younger graveyard-shift detective Renee Ballard. The story is weakened by having two characters as unique as Bosch & Ballard share the action, and it loses some flow as it bounces back and forth between their perspectives. But the book's procedural plot (involving an investigation into the murder of a teenager nine years earlier) is intricate and well-written. Recommended.
