Cold

John Smolens creates a superb setting in his thriller Cold, as a convict escapes from prison work detail in the middle of a Northern Michigan blizzard. The sparsely-populated region has a bit of the lawless feel of a Jim Thompson novel. Unfortunately rest of the story is a little too predictable.
