Choice and Consequence
Rating
The Pequod Review:
Thomas Schelling (1921-2016) was one of the earliest behavioral economists — he was doing most of his work before the field even existed, at least in the form that we understand it today — and Choice and Consequence is a sharp and lively exploration of the economics of everyday life, covering everything from smoking and abortion to terrorism and the mafia. Schelling's book is a bit dated and sometimes repetitive too, but its strengths lie not so much in the subjects themselves as in the way it shows us more generally how to think in a rational and probabilistic way.
