Peter Rabe’s fourteenth book, Blood on the Desert, is a foreign spy novel set in the Tunisian desert. The book's protagonist, a London-based agent named Anthony Wheeler, is one of Rabe’s best characters, and the plot is one of his most cohesive and thrilling. An underrated gem.
