Avid Reader: A Life
Rating
The Pequod Review:
Robert Gottlieb was the highly respected former editor of Simon & Schuster, Knopf, and The New Yorker, and his memoir Avid Reader recounts his experiences publishing a variety of writers. It bounces along a bit too superficially from author to author, but there are some interesting insights on the drafting and editing processes of several writers — including Robert Caro, Michael Crichton, and a few others.
