Deborah Crombie's Where Memories Lie is a mystery novel involving a stolen Nazi era diamond brooch that surfaces in the present day and appears to be causing a series of fatalities. The book is an entirely conventional procedural, in both structure and style, but it is a solid thriller with a well-executed plot. Sometimes that is enough.
