The Pequod Review:
In Voodoo River, Los Angeles private investigator Elvis Cole is hired by a popular TV star (Jodi Taylor) to find her birth parents so that she can learn more about her medical history. His investigation takes him to Baton Rouge, where he discovers that he has competition in his search — and that there is more to the story than Jodi has let on. Crais’s plotting for much of the book is superb and thrilling, and he creates characters and settings that are far superior to his mystery peers. However some of the later sections of the book are disjointed and action-heavy.
