Under the Dome

In Under the Dome, a translucent dome encloses the residents of the town of Chester’s Mill, cutting them off from the outside world. The book is one of the longest of Stephen King’s career, but enough of the narrative threads work that it is entertaining throughout. (King claims he came up with the idea decades earlier, before the similarly-plotted 2007 Simpsons movie.)
