Tik-Tok is an ingeniously funny satire that imagines a sociopathic robot who progresses from a mild-mannered domestic servant to a shockingly violent criminal. Naturally, he ascends to heights of great wealth and power, to the point that he is elected Vice President of the United States. Meanwhile, John Sladek’s prose has a manic wit that carries the narrative through its weaker sections.
