The Steel Mirror

The Pequod Review:
Published in 1948, Donald Hamilton’s second novel The Steel Mirror is a decent thriller about a young man who becomes involved with a young woman, only to discover she is being pursued by the police and the FBI (and maybe others). The story has several ridiculous premises (a convenient case of amnesia, a road trip across America with a rather puzzling objective, etc.), but it has good characters (especially the young woman) and a noirish atmosphere.
