The Pequod Review:

Helen Phillips’s short stories are dark and uncomfortable, and edge into dystopian science fiction territory. In the opening story, everyone has the option of learning the date of their death; other stories consider the social divisions between rich and poor following catastrophic climate change, the experience of sexual dysfunction, and a mother convinced her children are aliens. The quality of Phillips's writing doesn’t always match the inventiveness of her plots though.
