The Pequod Review:
Lionel Davidson (1922-2009) was a mid-century British mystery novelist who wrote a number of unusually intelligent books across a variety of sub-genres. The Rose of Tibet is one of his best, a thrilling and surreal adventure story involving the journey of Charles Houston across Tibet to find his half-brother who disappeared along with several other members of a film crew. In addition to the narrative tension and cultural clashes of the Tibetan search, the book includes an intriguing character named “Lionel Davidson” who tries to document and publish Houston’s story.
