The Pequod Review:

In Ripley's Game, the third book in Patricia Highsmith's eponymous series, Tom Ripley devises an ingenious scheme to hire a terminally ill man to commit a murder so that he can earn money to leave for his surviving family. Ripley discovers a new level of brutality in this book, and it makes him a much less sympathetic character. The book was made into the superb film Ripley’s Game, with a perfectly-cast John Malkovich as Tom Ripley.
