Religion for Atheists: A Non-Believer's Guide to the Uses of Religion

The Pequod Review:
Alain de Botton has actually found something interesting and useful to contribute to the tired religion/atheism debate. In Religion for Atheists, he argues that atheists and agnostics should find ways of preserving the useful elements of religion — the forms, rituals, and traditions that help give our lives meaning, connection and transcendence. “Being put in our place by something larger, older, greater than ourselves is not a humiliation; it should be accepted as a relief from our insanely hopeful ambitions for our lives.” Recommended.
