Postmortem

Postmortem is the first book in Patricia Cornwell's long-running Kay Scarpetta crime series. The plot is thrilling and ingenious (and a review should not reveal it), however Cornwell's prose and dialogue are entirely conventional. But the memory of this book still gives me chills; what more can you ask from a mystery novel?
