The Pequod Review:

I have a lot of problems with Edward Said’s polemical style, but he was nonetheless an exceptionally honorable person who fought for an important cause. Said's intelligent memoir Out of Place gives useful background on his feeling of displacement growing up in Palestine, Egypt, and Lebanon (as a Christian son of an American father) and its influence on his intellectual and political views.
