The Pequod Review:
Arminta Hall’s third novel, Our Kind of Cruelty, is a psychological thriller about a young and obsessive West London couple. Hall is a solid writer and her book has sort of a unique twist on the unreliable narrator genre (the protagonist is male, rather than female). Meanwhile, some of the early scenes are excellent glimpses into an erotic but disturbed relationship. Unfortunately the scenes don’t really combine into a satisfying novel and book’s secondary characters are weak and forgettable.
