One Summer: America, 1927

The Pequod Review:
Bill Bryson's One Summer is a nostalgic but detailed history of key events in the Summer of 1927, including Charles Lindbergh’s solo flight, Sacco and Vanzetti’s execution, Babe Ruth’s 60 home runs, the Jack Dempsey/Georges Carpentier fight, Charles Ponzi, and the Bath MI school shooting, as well as day-to-day American life. With the possible exception of A Short History of Nearly Everything (2003), this is the most informationally-dense book Bill Bryson has written, and as a result it is one of his best works.
