Nothing More than Murder

Jim Thompson's Nothing More than Murder is a more complex and intricate variation on the Double Indemnity insurance scam, but this time the plan is orchestrated by the wife while the pathetic husband does his best not to screw it up. Some of the best sections of the book describe the various anti-competitive practices employed by film studios to strong-arm local theaters into showing their films (the husband and wife are owners of a small-town movie house).
