Neuromancer

The Pequod Review:
William Gibson’s seminal novel Neuromancer is the story of an unemployed computer hacker hired to steal encrypted data from cyberspace. It goes without saying that the book is an enormously influential work of science fiction, one that helped carve out cyberpunk as its own sub-genre. Unfortunately its plot is convoluted and Gibson at this point in his career was not a strong writer. Nonetheless, it can’t be denied how vivid his setting is — dark and futuristic, AI/code-driven, and all under the control of powerful corporate conglomerates.
